The effectiveness of the banana diet is almost instant because you need only two weeks to notice the first results!
The trick is drinking hot water and eating bananas throughout the day. This diet is design of Hitoshi Watanabe, husband of a pharmacist Sumiko, who lost 39 pounds. The book in which he describes his “banana diet” soon became hit in Japan, sold in over 600 000 copies. Due to this diet, in Japan in 2009, there was deficit of bananas: in the mornings there was a real challenge to find bananas in the market, because the demand for bananas became huge.
Although, the biomedical expert Dr. Noboru Motohashi approves the banana diet, other nutritionists are skeptical. They think that eating only one kind of food in the long run is not healthy, because it can’t get you the necessary nutrients.
Because of that, Hitoshi Watanabe changes the diet, and now it looks like this:
For breakfast you can eat more than one banana, only fresh, but be careful not to overeat. If for any reason you can’t eat bananas, you can replace them with any other fruit. If you still feel hungry, wait 15 minutes and then if you still feel hungry, just eat anything else, but in small quantities.
For lunch and dinner eat normally. Hitoshi recommends not to eat dinner after 6 PM or maximum 8 PM if you are going to bed at midnight. There are no specific rules about lunch and dinner in the diet, nor prohibited products, but it is important to avoid fried foods and to not overeat. The only drink that you can drink though the meal is warm water, in small sips. After 3 PM you can eat a dessert such as chocolate or biscuits, although it’s recommend to be fruit.
The most important thing is not to overeat, drink plenty of hot water, and at least one day a week to keep the banana diet.
