12 Ways Your Body Tries To Tell You That Your Liver Is Being Damaged

The function of the liver is crucial for the body and our overall health, so when it is overburdened, we are at an increased risk of numerous health issues, and often experience the following 12 signs of liver damage:

Since it is a vital organ in the digestion process and produces bile, in the case of liver damage, one experiences diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, and fatty food intolerance.

Liver damage is often manifested by a persistent pain in the abdomen.

Appetite loss is often caused by indigestion and low bile levels.

Pain, bloating, and cramps in the lower part of your abdomen are other symptoms of liver damage.

Nausea and vomiting are some of the most common symptoms of liver damage, especially if they persist over a longer period of time, as it means that the body cannot get rid of toxins.

Bile deficiency causes stool color changes, and when the stool has clay color, pale yellow or gray for a longer period of time, it means that your liver does not function properly.

When damaged, the liver is not able to eliminate excess bilirubin, and it is removed through the kidneys. Therefore, the increased bilirubin levels lead to changes in the color of your urine, and it becomes brown, or amber.

High bilirubin levels lead to jaundice as well, which is a medical condition characterized by a change of the color of the eyes, fingertips, tongue, and skin, which turn yellow.

In most cases, intestinal bleeding is linked to liver damage.

Fluid retention can be a symptom of liver damage as well, despite being a sign of kidney issues, lymphatic disease, heart failure, and hormonal imbalance.

If you constantly feel tired, your body is full of toxins that the liver cannot eliminate, since it is damaged.

Liver damage makes the skin more sensitive, and prone to bruises, itchiness, and visible veins.
