Choosing a laundry detergents can give you a migraine. Always choose clear items and as eco-friendly as possible if you want to take care of both your and yours family health.
The best solution is to eliminate the excess of fragrance and chemicals in your household in order to provide a healthier one for living. Laundry is a great place to start.
More than 75% of the chemicals found in the ‘’fragrance’’ ingredient are known to disrupt hormones. If you look at the ingredients for any scented product you have, you will only see fragrance. Many of the toxic chemicals which are contained in fabric softeners are not disclosed because they are part of the fragrance in the item.
If you want to fabric your own softener, use vinegar since it is cheaper and healthier alternative. It also softens the water and helps clothes dry faster.

When I decided to try Tide as a detergent, I had an alergic reaction until I got to work. My skin felt like it was on fire so I took a small break to call my husband for some allergy medication. At the edn of the day, after a multiple doses of allergy medicine, my arms were still red and irritated. I have never used Tide since.
Many popular laundry detergents are full of harmful chemicals. One of them is Tide. EPA (enviromental protection agency) lists dioxane as a carcinogen and since Tide contains 1,4 dioxane, it’s concidered as very harmful detergent. Tide also contains sodium hydroxide which is also a possible carcinogen. 1,4 –dioxane has been linked to headache, vertigo, drowsiness and irritation to lungs, nose and eyes and long-term exposure has been linked to kidney and liver damage.
The chemicals of these detergents do not rinse entirely during the washing cycle, they sit on the fibers of your clothes and the minute you sweat, they enter your system. Also, you breathe in the fragrance they have and the chemicals attributes. The label for Tide is filled with complex chemical compounds.
The best choice you can make is to use only natural detergents such as: EcoverZero Laundry detergent, Planet Natural and Eco-Me detergent. However, it is also very easy to make a detergent on your own.
